FREE EPA Incident Response Training in Greenwood on May 6

On May 6th in Greenwood, Indiana, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Water Security Division will provide FREE training on Water Sector Incident Command Systems (ICS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) for all small, medium and large wastewater utilities, and those associated with the water industry.  This FREE training opportunity may provide you and your co-workers with the knowledge necessary to respond to those in need and/or to prepare your own workplace for any possible hazards that could arrive.

The training is being provided as a free service to bring incident response training up to the current national standard adopted by the EPA. Only eight of these workshops are being provided in the United States.

The NIMS template serves as a common foundation for all involved at a government and non-government level nationwide to work together during domestic incidents.  However, NIMS is now requiring all agencies to respond to these incidents using the ICS model.  ICS is a concept that serves as a standard for on-scene, all hazard incident management.  ICS will not reform any current systems put in place at any organization.  Instead, it will serve as a working national guideline to encourage multiple organizations to provide aid across jurisdictional boundaries when needed.

Who should attend the Water Sector ICS/NIMS Training?
Wastewater utilities, water sector trainers, state drinking water primacy agencies, state wastewater permitting agencies, and federal workers with an active role in water sector emergency response should attend this training.
